April 9, 2005, we walked the aisle and said..
"we will" for the rest of our lives.
Mike and I were engaged on September 29, 2004, which just so happens to be my brother in law, Brian's birthday. We quickly decided we didn't want a long engagement, so we set our Wedding for April 9th. The day quickly approached and we did our best to prepare not just for our wedding, but to prepare our hearts for marriage. The details came into place easily. We decided to have an evening wedding. We knew when we chose our date, that it could be cold and snowy, or beautiful and springy. We had an absolutely gorgeous day, it was 70 and sunny, a rarity that early in Michigan.
Our wedding was at 7 in the evening, it was dusk, and beautiful. Because of that, we decided to go ahead with pictures ahead of time as it was a late evening. Mike and I still wanted to "see each other" for the first time as I walked down the aisle. So, we opted to just do that privately in the sanctuary. I loved that we had a few moments to just be together by ourselves during the craziness of the day.
We had a candlelit service, filled with lots of song and music, after all we were both music majors in college. The ceremony was beautiful, albeit a bit long. At one point, I remember thinking, if we don't hurry up and get done in here, I'm going to take these shoes off and throw them at someone. :) Thankfully, it didn't come to that, though I did promptly switch to flip flops after the service was over. :)
We left the church to sparklers, one of my favorite moments of the evening. We headed to our dessert reception, where we filled the room with 200 people and 30 of the most amazing cheesecakes you'll ever eat in your entire life. We ate desserts, laughed with friends and family, and danced away until late in the evening, to everything from Jim Brickman to Jazz..
I loved our wedding, every moment of it.. even the part where we tripped the fuse and the coffee didn't turn on, or the part where we ran out of punch...
I loved every moment, because it was with my best friend,
the man I chose to love, and love even more today...
I love you baby... forever and ever, I will...
