A lot of people have asked us where we got Ruby's name..
The simple answer?
We liked it.
Ruby is not a family name or have any significant meaning to us. When we looked for a name we wanted it to be short, succint, different (but not crazy) pronouncable, not in the top 20, (preferably not in the top 100) and all with a little zest and spunk :)
That was pretty much the criteria for Levi's name as well.
hence. Ruby.
Kathleen was a simple choice and was decided on long before Ruby was decided upon. Kathleen is my Mom's name. We knew we wanted a family name, (and one from my family since James (Levi's middle name) came from Mike's family) and once we found out it was a girl it was an easy decision.
Her full name is
Ruby Kathleen Carley Youngman
We chose to carry on Carley with Levi and we chose to do the same with her.
So there ya go... how we chose her name. :)

Thanks! I had wondered its history, and I must say you made the decision well. Being able to spell one's name at an early age is a plus. "Ruby" is certainly distinct, and it's a most lovely color and stone. May she wear it well!
